The Special Operation Forces Combat Assault Rifle (SCAR) was created by Belgian arms manufacturer FN Herstal (FNH) to serve as a dependable, easily maintained, and adaptable combat rifle. It was developed for the United States Special Operations Command (SOCOM) with the aim of replacing the well-established M4A1 carbine, which had been the standard firearm for Special Forces units across different branches of the US Military.
